About your Waltham concrete contractor and crew
We pour driveways, patios, steps and foundations for homes in Waltham and the cities around it. We plan the ground under it, the mix and where the water goes before every pour.

I missed building things. So I learned concrete.
I worked at a desk for years and missed building things I could stand on. So I quit, spent my first seasons learning the trade on a concrete crew, and started A&B Waltham Concrete in 2017. I still do the estimates myself, because I'd rather see your ground than guess at it.
We're based in Waltham and work in Newton, Watertown, Belmont, Lexington and plenty of other cities around it, so if yours isn't named on this site, just ask. Most of our calls come from homeowners, along with some owners of small commercial lots.
We're best known for the tricky jobs, like cutting a new opening in a wall, raising a house or pouring where a truck can't get close. I still enjoy a job that makes me stop and think, and those are the ones where planning pays off most.

Call once. The person you meet plans your job.
I come out to look at your job myself, and our crew lead runs the work with me on site at the key steps. So what you ask at the estimate gets answered on pour day, and if you need a surveyor, an engineer or a signature, you hear it early.

The base matters most. Nobody sees it after the pour.
Before we pour, I look at the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, and whether it needs digging out and packing instead of a quick rake. I check where your water runs so the slab slopes away from the house. And we plan the mix and the pour time, because midday heat can leave a weak, dusty top.
When a budget gets tight, most people want to cut the base first because nobody sees it on day one. I'd rather trim the finish, since a nice surface on a soft base settles and cracks with the dirt under it.

A slab that lasts. Plain answers along the way.
On every job, I'm after concrete that still looks right years from now, through plenty of our winters, and a quote you understood before you said yes. We're licensed and fully insured, and our promise is short. Your satisfaction, guaranteed.
If you want to talk your job through, use our contact page or call (781) 622-9470, and I'll come out to see it.
We pour more than driveways. Here's the full list.
We take on everything from a backyard patio to footings, foundations and raising a house, plus work for small commercial lots. Each page covers what that job involves.
Concrete driveway building
A new concrete driveway when the old one is cracked, sinking or holding puddles, built on a base we dig out and pack first.
Concrete patio construction
Thinking about a patio where the lawn won't grow or old pavers have heaved? We pour a slab sloped to carry water away from the house.
Stamped concrete services
Stamped concrete has a pattern pressed into the wet surface, so a patio or walkway can look like stone or brick without loose joints.
Concrete sidewalk building
For front walks and side paths that have cracked, lifted or turned into trip hazards, we replace the run with new concrete set to drain.
Garage floor concrete
When a garage floor is cracked, chipping or sinking, we break out the old slab and pour a new one built to carry your cars.
Decorative concrete
Color, texture and borders for concrete that sits where people see it. A good fit for entries, patios and walks that should look finished.
Concrete retaining walls
Poured concrete walls that hold back a slope when soil keeps washing onto a driveway or yard, with drainage planned behind them.
Concrete floor installation
Interior concrete floors for basements, workshops and additions, poured over a prepared base and finished smooth for whatever goes on top.
Concrete pool decks
A deck around the pool that sheds water and keeps a grip underfoot. We plan the slope and the surface texture before anything is poured.
Concrete steps construction
Front or back steps that have cracked, crumbled or pulled away from the house, rebuilt in concrete with even steps that are easier to climb.
Slab foundation building
A slab foundation for an addition, garage or outbuilding, with the ground under it dug out, packed and checked before we pour.
Foundation installation
New foundation walls for a house, addition or garage. I work out the footings, the drainage and which approvals the job needs before we start.
Concrete parking lot building
For owners of small commercial lots, we pour concrete parking areas laid out so water runs off instead of sitting where people park.
Concrete footings
Footings are the concrete pads that carry a deck, porch or wall. We size and pour them before anything above them goes up.
Foundation raising
When a house needs lifting to repair or replace what's under it, we plan the raise step by step before any weight comes off.
Concrete cutting
Cutting a new door or window opening in a foundation wall, or sawing out a section of slab, with the support worked out first.
